Why Convert PNG to ICO?
While modern browsers accept PNG favicons, ICO remains the most compatible format and can embed multiple resolutions. A single ICO file serves browser tabs (16px), bookmarks (32px), and desktop shortcuts (256px).
How to Convert PNG to ICO
Upload a square PNG (256×256 or larger recommended for best quality).
KoalaPic generates an ICO with 16×16, 32×32, 48×48, and 256×256 sizes embedded.
Download favicon.ico and place it in your website's root directory.
Quality Note
For best results, start with a square PNG at least 256×256 pixels. If your source is smaller, only sizes up to the source dimension are generated (no upscaling). PNG transparency is preserved in the ICO output.
