Compress HEIC Images
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads. While already efficient, photos taken at maximum quality can be further compressed. Our SSIM-based optimizer reduces file size while keeping your photos looking identical.

How HEIC Compression Works
HEIC uses the HEVC (H.265) video codec for image compression. Our compressor performs the same SSIM binary search used for other lossy formats — finding the lowest quality where visual degradation is imperceptible.
Tips for HEIC Compression
- iPhone photos at default settings are already well-compressed
- Photos shot in ProRAW mode will see bigger savings after HEIC compression
- HEIC isn't universally supported — consider converting to JPG for sharing
- For web use, convert to WEBP or JPG instead of compressing HEIC
HEIC Compression FAQ
Why are my iPhone photos in HEIC format?
Apple switched from JPG to HEIC as the default format because HEIC produces smaller files at equivalent quality. It's supported natively on Apple devices and increasingly on other platforms.
