Compress AVIF Images
AVIF is already the most efficient image format available, but files exported at maximum quality can still be optimized. Our SSIM-based compressor finds the sweet spot between file size and visual quality.

How AVIF Compression Works
AVIF uses the AV1 video codec's intra-frame compression, which is extremely efficient. Our compressor applies the same SSIM binary search used for JPG and WEBP — testing different quality levels and finding the lowest one where the visual difference is imperceptible.
Tips for AVIF Compression
- AVIF at quality 50 often matches JPEG at quality 85 — it's very efficient
- Savings depend on the original export quality
- AVIF encoding is slower than JPEG — compression may take a few seconds longer
- Not all browsers support AVIF — check compatibility for your audience
AVIF Compression FAQ
Is AVIF better than WebP?
Generally yes — AVIF produces 20-30% smaller files than WebP at equivalent quality. However, encoding is slower and browser support is still growing.
