How we handle your files

Your privacy matters. Here’s exactly what happens to your files when you use KoalaPic.

Upload and processing

1. Your file is uploaded to our servers over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
2. The file is processed in memory where possible, or stored in a temporary directory.
3. Conversion runs on our servers using Pillow (Python imaging library).
4. The converted file is made available for download.

File retention

• Uploaded files and converted results are automatically deleted after 1 hour.
• No images are stored permanently on our servers.
• Deletion is enforced by an automated cleanup task that runs continuously.
• After deletion, files are not recoverable.

What we store

• Conversion metadata: Format, file size, timestamp, settings used. This is stored for up to 1 year for authenticated users (for your conversion history) and 30 days for anonymous conversions.
• No image content: We never store the actual image data beyond the 1-hour processing window.
• No file names: Original file names are not stored in conversion records.

What we don’t do

• We don’t view, analyze, or train AI models on your images.
• We don’t share files with third parties.
• We don’t use your images for any purpose other than the requested conversion.
• We don’t serve ads or sell data.

API and bots

The same rules apply to files processed via the API and chat bots. All files are deleted after 1 hour regardless of how they were submitted.
